how to allow cosmic energy to flow freely in your body using pranayama...?

You might heard about the word 'pranayama' in these days, its an ancient Indian technique involve rhythmic breathing. If done properly, it may help a restless or dissipated mind become calm and concentrated by allowing cosmic energy to flow freely in body. Even where there appears to be nothing, like empty space, there is something called vibrations thereby waves become matter. Everything in the universe and beyond is made up of some energy called life-force/god energy. Luckily we can access this knowledge and use cosmic energy in all areas of human lives by using pranayama and other methods such as meditation.

How pranayama controls cosmic energy?

Pranayam means control of pran or vital force. According to the sage Patanjali it means controlled breathing which includes deep inhaling, exhaling and retention of breath.

Pranayama ordinarily means a breathing exercise, but it also has deeper meaning. The Sanskrit word prana means cosmic energy. Ayama means control. The compound word pranayama means the control of this energy.
A portion of this cosmic energy is present in every person and is used for all activities. These activities are thinking, breathing, eating,  blood
circulation throughout the body, talking or singing, moving, and creating progeny.
Although Prana is the general name of this energy, it is given five different names- Prana, Vyana, Apana, Udana and Samana- depending upon the activities of human body.
  • It is called Prana when it is used for breathing and functioning of heart and cardioid-organs.
  • When it causes the circulation of blood and other fluids throughout the body, it is called Vyana.
  • Similarly, Apana is responsible for eating, drinking, voiding and procreation.
  • Udana is responsible for digesting food.
It should be clearly understood that it is the same cosmic energy has been given five different names depending upon its activities in the human body.

Among all these activities breathing is the most vital.Says Swami Vivekananda, a master of yoga:The most obvious manifestation of this Prana(energy) in the human body  is the motion of the lungs. If that stops,as a rule all other manifestation of force(Prana) in the body will immediately stop.

The pranayama really means controlling this motion of the lungs , and this motion is associated with the breath. Not that the breath produces it, on the contrary,it(i;e. the motion of the lungs) produces the breath. This motion draws in the air by pump action. Prana(energy) moves the lungs; the movement of the lungs draws in the air. So Pranayama is not breathing, but controlling that muscular energy which moves the lungs....When prana(energy) has become controlled, then we shall immediately find that all other actions of prana in the body will slowly come under control.

Through Pranayama masters of Yoga not only control the energy in their bodies but also cosmic energy. How they control cosmic energy is explained by following analogy:

Consider a faucet (A device for regulating the flow of a liquid from a reservoir such as a pipe or drum.) in a home. Its a water is coming from large reservoir many miles away. In this analogy the faucet represents the lungs, and the reservoir the cosmic energy. If we turn the faucet on and let the water run continuously for a long time, it will have some effect on reservoir. The water in the reservoir  will get depleted, no matter how imperceptibly. By controlling the water pouring out of the faucet, one can thus indirectly control the water of reservoir. Similarly,by controlling the Prana in the lungs through pranayama, a Yogi can eventually control even cosmic prana(cosmic energy). But to accomplish that the yogi will have to first the concentration.
